NEA Retirement Program

Working with an Independent Financial Representative

At Security Benefit, we only work with independent financial representatives. Every financial representative who proposes a Security Benefit strategy or solution does so because he or she believes that product is the optimal choice for that client. And, we’ve verified that each representative who offers our products is properly licensed and knowledgeable in the retirement financial market.

Partnering with independent financial representatives also ensure clients are working with local representatives. These representatives are part of your community; they have a vested interest in helping to ensure your success. They are also experts in that state’s pension system and are up-to-date with changing legislation and taxes.

NEA Retirement Specialist

Education professionals face unique choices and challenges when it comes to their retirement; you may not be eligible for Social Security, face a changing state pension, or you have a longer retirement as educators tend to retire earlier than the national average, etc. The financial representative you work with should be an expert in all things that could affect your retirement.

This is why we’ve created our exclusive NEA Retirement Specialist designation to accompany our NEA Retirement Program. To become a certified NEA Retirement Specialist, the financial advisor is trained in the K-12 Education Retirement Market, with a focus on the pension plan and any special programs that govern their local school district.

We partner with the local NEA leadership to “assign” one certified NEA Retirement Specialist to each school district where Security Benefit has a payroll slot for retirement contributions.

Advisor Services

Certified NEA Retirement Specialists offer complimentary financial education workshops in their school district. They are also available for your questions.

Our service through the program means that our local financial advisors are consistently reviewing their NEA clients’ retirement goals to make sure they are on the right path or if they need new direction along the way. Advisors offer routine, complimentary checkpoints to help members understand their risk profile, investment choices and what their personal savings rate should be in order to arrive at retirement comfortably.
